On December 15th, 2000, APA Family Support Services will receive this web site thanks to collaboration between Teaming for Technology, San Francisco State University Multimedia Studies Program and San Francisco State Multimedia Studies Program Web Intensive students (pictured above from left to right: Rachael Maughan, Kevin McNamee and Rebecca Carino), administration and faculty.

As San Francisco State University Multimedia Studies Web Design Intensive Certificate Program students, our final project is the design and implementation of a website for APA Family Support Services, a nonprofit organization. Teaming for Technology, a collaborative agency of United Way of America, AmeriCorps*VISTA and IBM, selected and facilitated six non-profit agencies to aquire the technology and knowledge to benefit from having a professional web site tailored to their needs. We the student teams made a selection and our team chose APA Family Support Services.

We felt this remarkable organization makes a significant contribution to the community and improves the lives of children and families. We love the diversity and the opportunities found in San Francisco and we realized that the unique nature of APA's programs helps create a strand of the weave that binds our communities together and makes us citizens of one of the greatest cities of the world.

Teaming for Technology San Francisco assists Bay Area non-profit agencies in crossing the digital divide as a part of America's Promise. Founded in Philadelphia at the President's Summit for America's Future in April, 1997, America's Promise pledges to bring technology and information to non-profit agencies in sixteen American cities and is chaired by General Colin L. Powell.

Working through the local offices of the United Way and its affiliates with IBM providing the technology funding, AmeriCorps*VISTA members implement a plan enhancing technology in selected local, community-based organizations. Macromedia provided the software to the agencies to enable them to maintain their websites. Teaming for Technology San Francisco has joined with Northern California Council for the Community through the United Way to strengthen and expand the capacity of these organizations to provide services to Bay Area communities.
