Community Advisory Committee...
Dr.Peter Gilford, earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley/Alameda. He maintains a private practice in San Francisco, working with individuals and couples. Dr. Gilford has given a number of presentations and taken part in professional symposia on the forced alliance between managed systems of health care, mental health treatment and the multicultural self. He has also published on the same subject, having co-authored two articles, the most recent in The American Psychologist, and contributed to the book, The Traumatic Bond between the Psychotherapist and Managed Care. For the last five years, Dr. Gilford has been the lead faculty member in the department of psychology at National University's San Jose campus. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco in the School of Education and at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Menlo Park.

Charise Ho
formerly worked as the hotline coordinator. She has a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology. She also worked with children and homeless persons in several other community service agencies.

Michele Lee is a medical social worker with Maternal Child Health Division at SFGH. This native San Franciscan holds her master's degree in human development and social welfare from U.C., Berkley and came to APA in 1996 as an intern. APA then hired her as a bilingual social worker. Committed to serving disadvantaged communities, she is now serving APA on the Community Advisory Counsel. "APA is instrumental in improving the lives of children and in promoting healthy and vibrant Asian Pacific Islander communities."

Joicy Mean earned her first bachelor's degree in pharmacology in 1980 from the Chinese Medical College. During her career as a pharmacist, she became convinced that sound mental health is critical to speedy recovery from illness and is necessary for general good health. She wants to help people develop positive mental health by helping them understand themselves. In 1994, Joicy earned her second bachelor's degree in counseling at National Open University. In 1996, Joicy joined APA as a graduate intern.In 1997, she earned her master's degree in counseling psychology and became the home visitation program supervisor and counseling program coordinator. Joicy works at APA because she believes in the agency's mission and service model, working collaboratively with families by helping them access information and social services. She is currently the clinical program manager and is pursuing her license to practice as a marriage and family therapist in California.
